The final act is probably the highlight of the film and while this third outing in my opinion is a bit of an injustice on the perfect final chapter that T2 should have been, the unavoidable realization of the rise of the machines is at least well handled, executed with some of the movie’s best acting, special effects and writing. Saying that, even with all the explosions, car chases and CGI it’s hard to see where the enormous budget went. Pretty strong at least, not as visceral and imaginative as the last movie, but entertaining none the less. None of the efforts particularly work, and only Arnie’s Terminator is halfway entertaining, despite some awful dialogue. Sarah Connor’s tough, dedicated and unrelenting heroism stands tall over the wimpy John Connor of this movie, and there are some weak attempts to charge up newcomer Kate Brewster as an emerging action heroine. None of the protagonists are particularly endearing or even likable for that matter. Ultimately, there just isn’t a handle for the audience. Instead, the writers have opted for more in the way of comedy, with Arnold being reduced to some massively clumsy and cringe worthy his arrival at a strip bar and altercation with an effeminate male stripper being a particular stinker. The young John Connor, or any attempts to replicate it. Gone is the charming relationship he had with.

Arnie on the other hand just doesn’t fit the role as he did last time round. Loken actually surprises in her role there’s some awkward and embarrassing moments playing up her gender, but for the most part she works well as a simple minded villain. Representing the villainous side is the resourceful T-X, the first female model played by Kristanna Loken. Meanwhile, Arnie returns in his usual bubble of blue electricity, and like the second movie, serves as the heroic terminator. Soon, a road accident sends him limping to a vet’s office, where he bumps shoulders with an old acquaintance, Katherine Brewster (Claire Danes), supposedly an old flame. The war against the machines weren’t fully quashed, however final T2 seemed. John Connor is now a young man (played by an unconvincing Nick Stahl) roaming the country on his motorcycle, living off the grid and generally trying to avoid attention of any kind, fearful that judgement day and Sarah Connor is now dead, having succumbed to cancer several years previously. Things seem very distant from the last movie.

#TERMINATOR 3 PLOT MOVIE#
Unfortunately, Terminator 3 neither provides a worthy successor to its predecessors, nor feels very much like a Terminator movie in general, despite the enormous budget thrown at it and returning stalwart Arnold Schwarzenegger. However tightly the second movie concluded, however finally that last act seemed box office gain would always dictate another movie would be made. All reviewsAfter the hugely successful, and critically acclaimed Terminator 2 a further sequel was obviously inevitable.
